The Bidi Stick: An Eco-Conscious E-Cigarette

As the vaping industry is becoming more aware of the alarming levels of electronic waste being produced by vaping products, Bidi Vapor has taken the lead in promoting an eco-conscious and sustainable way of using their products.

Researchers have estimated that by 2021, there will be 55 million adult vapers. If disposed of improperly, this large amount of devices could create a massive recycling disaster. “E-waste is a huge problem globally. Anytime we make something that is disposable, we’re essentially stealing from the future,” said Yogi Hale Hendlin from the Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education at the University of California, following a report he conducted last year.

While most vape pens contain synthetic cotton, the BidiTM Stick has a pharmaceutical and medical-rate pad which benefits both the consumers’ health and the environment.

Hendlin had pointed out that each stage of the e-cigarette production could pose a potential environmental harm, from mining, manufacturing, using and disposing. Citing a 2017 CDC study, he explained that in 2015 alone, over 58 million vaping products were sold in the U.S. at grocery and convenience stores alone. About 19 million of those products were designed for single use.

Additionally, while most e-cigarettes have batteries containing heavy metals that need extensive treatment to be removed, the Bidi Stick contains a high-quality battery that has been certified by FCC, CE, and ROHS. It is 2.8x more expensive than the usual batteries but also stronger and recyclable.

Additionally, to encourage recycling their product, the brand has launched a sustainable program via which customers can ship back their used Bidi Stick and receive a free one in return. In this manner the Bidi brand is not only encouraging customers to improve their health by using a safer alternative to cigarettes but also make a positive impact on our planet, by choosing a sustainable product.
