The Bushido V3 RDA is the first dripper from manufacturer BP Mods. With a diameter of 22 mm, it delivers flavours perfectly, and its flip top is really original. This new feature means it works just as well as a bottom feeder as it does with more traditional vaping.

A single flavour

The Bushido V3 sports a classic, understated design. Its design combines slightly matt with high gloss areas to create an elegant dripper. It may be small but it delivers great flavour for a moderate direct inhalation vape.

An original little atomizer

The name of the manufacturer and the model are engraved on the underside of the dripper. It comes with two 510 pins, one of which is drilled for use with a bottom feeder. With small drippers, a squonk is usually the easiest solution for everyday use, especially for DL vaping. However, the Bushido’s originality lies in the fact that you can use it in a more traditional way.

The top cap flips open thanks to a hinge on the edge of the atomizer. It’s a bit strange the first time you use it, but it’s extremely practical. With a standard box, you don’t have to remove the dome or the top cap to soak your wick. It’s better because it takes up less space and it’s also cleaner – you don’t end up with liquid all over your hands. All this plus its deep tank make this system a pleasure to use. The seal around the opening guarantees excellent tightness, even when the atomizing chamber is full of condensation.

There’s one air inlet on each side near the base. These are narrow but cool the coil effectively. The dome turns smoothly when you want to open or close the air flows but isn’t overly loose. Once the air intake is fully open or closed, end stops prevent it being turned further.

Really good flavours

The mounting plate is designed to take a single coil. The serial number is engraved on the negative pole of the plate. Removing the dripper completely reveals the tank inside the it, which is generous for an atomizer of this size. At just over 8 mm deep, you can thoroughly soak the wick without worrying about getting a dry hit. The parts are solid and neatly machined. There are no sharp edges.

The mounting plate is easy to access. There are two posts on opposite sides to hold the coil. It comes with two coils, so it’s quite easy to start vaping with the Bushido V3. The 2.5 mm wide coil is made of Ni80 for a value of 0.35 ohm. The only slight downside is that the ends of the coils in the box are side by side. But the layout on the mounting plate requires diagonally opposite ones. That means you’ll have to bend your coil to be able to fit it correctly. It’s a detail, but when you consider the care taken with the overall design, it does make a difference. A notch on each side helps to position the coil in the right place without worrying it’s at the right height. The air inlets are located on each side of the coil and are angled to cool it from below. At first glance, you might think the coil is a bit high compared to the air intakes, but this isn’t the case when you use it.

Fitting the wick is child’s play, and with this tank you don’t really need to worry about the length of the wick as the Bushido V3 allows a lot of leeway here.

When it comes to vaping, the Bushido is a surprise. Despite its small size you can expect to get a “reasonable” vape. And yet it can easily take 45-50 W without the dome heating up too much. At this power you’ll need to change the drip tip, as the one in the box is a bit short and the vape can get very hot. The flavours are excellent. It’s accurate, clear and there’s no hissing. It delivers flavours very well and makes a lot of vapour for such a small dripper. At lower powers, reducing the air intake concentrates the flavour better. This is a really decent single coil for those among you who like dense or hot direct vaping. The Bushido V3 is not intended for MTL, but it’s very good at what it does.

Self-taught and curious by nature, I developed my journalistic skills in the field by joining the Vaping Post in 2017. As a former smoker who converted to vaping, I immediately felt the need to understand in detail all aspects of this smoking risk reduction method that has enabled me to successfully quit smoking where previous methods had failed.
review-bushido-v3-rda-bp-modsThe Bushido V3 by BP Mods is a brilliant surprise this late in the year. It is a good single coil dripper that is easy to use and delivers a reasonable DL vape. It’s just as good with a BF as it is in standard mode thanks to its flip top cap, has plenty of originality and above all delivers a great vape.
