A complete kit and a well-designed box

The iStick Pico 2 box offers a complete kit including the box, atomizer, two resistance coils, a manual, a USB-C cable, a spanner to dismantle it and a Pyrex bubble glass. Everything is there to make life easy for vapers.

The iStick Pico 2 has kept the well-known shape of its big sister with the battery cap on the top. The top does indeed have this cap that screws off to access the 18650 battery compartment. The battery orientation is clearly marked with a “-” symbol on the cap and a “+” symbol inside. Next to it is a 510 connector firmly attached to the iStick Pico 2.

The sides of the iStick Pico 2 are nicely decorated, in an understated but aesthetic way. Eleaf has done a good job combining style and compactness. The brushed aluminium and the little squares improve grip.

The front of the box has a large fire button, a monochrome screen giving the key information (battery level, power, resistance value) without any unnecessary frills. Below it are two buttons used to adjust the settings, and lastly a USB-C port for fast charging or to update the electronics. It should be noted that the fire button makes quite a loud click, which might be annoying.

An adapted GZeno S

The iStick Pico 2 kit comes with a clearomizer, the GZeno S, designed for mouth to lung and restrictive direct to lung vaping. It is completely adapted to beginners who want to wean themselves off cigarettes without any worries.

On the top, a 510 drip tip (mouthpiece) is inserted into the clearomizer. It can be removed and changed for a standard model. The top cap turns through a half turn to remove it and reveal two filling holes protected by a strip of silicon to avoid leaks.

In the centre is a small flat screw drive in which to use the tool provided in the box. This system is used to remove the atomisation dome and change the tank to increase the capacity of the clearomizer. It’s a practical system that prevents the system from leaking.

Then comes the atomisation dome and the basic tank containing 2ml of e-liquid, with the bubble glass increasing this to 4ml.

The base of the clearomizer has two large air intakes that are easy to adjust. The base unscrews to reveal the resistance coil compartment. The coil is easy to insert by aligning the bottom with the two flat areas on the clearomizer. The system is easy as pie and works well. Underneath, the 510 pin makes it compatible with all the boxes.

The kit works well

The iStick Pico 2 proves that Eleaf is a master of kits for beginners. The box’s electronics are simple but offer a few extras such as temperature control. The menu is accessed by pressing the fire button three times, and the settings buttons are used to navigate. It is extremely simple and makes life easy for the user.

Changing the battery via the screw-off cap, a feature inherited from the first Picos, is also very well designed. The brand had nothing to gain by changing such a simple, functional system.

The GZeno S clearomizer also works perfectly and is easy to handle. However, it should be said that once the air inlet is open to its maximum, it tends to whistle when you inhale, which might be annoying.

Good resistance coils

The box comes with two resistance coils for Gzeno, one 0.4ohm and a second 0.8ohm. Each is better for a specific type of vape. With the 0.8ohm coil, you get mouth to lung inhalation, like a standard cigarette, which is perfect for someone just starting to vape. The second one gives big unctuous clouds in restrictive direct to lung vaping. It is perfect to experiment with a different sensation.

They are pretty good quality to use. They are sturdy and offer interesting flavours and a vapour volume that is perfectly acceptable for their power range.

Self-taught and curious by nature, I developed my journalistic skills in the field by joining the Vaping Post in 2017. As a former smoker who converted to vaping, I immediately felt the need to understand in detail all aspects of this smoking risk reduction method that has enabled me to successfully quit smoking where previous methods had failed.
