GFN21 has addressed many of the concerns prompted by recent reviews and reports and discussed how they have impacted the vape industry and public health. Moreover, these reports were discussed in the context of their implications for the infamous WHO FCTC COP 9 meeting, which was held last year.
The event featured a number of renowned expert speakers who presented perspectives from the the arenas of health, tobacco harm reduction, the vaping industry, and consumer rights. Amid a packed and varied programme, the message from the 30 speakers who joined the Forum live or online, was the dire need for policymakers in public health and tobacco control to listen to both the science on tobacco harm reduction and the experiences of consumers who are benefiting from it every day.
GFN22: Tobacco harm reduction: here for good
Being the broadcast arm of the Global Forum on Nicotine (GFN) stable, GFN•TV, which is set to launch this week will naturally be broadcast live from #GFN22 in June. A release by the conference’s organizers explained that as preparations continue for the ninth edition of the conference in Warsaw from June 16 – 18 2022, themed “Tobacco harm reduction: here for good,” GFN•TV will be bringing the conference’s rational and inclusive debate to the GFN audience and beyond, throughout the year.
“GFN, which has taken place in June every year since 2014, and is the only international conference to focus on the role of safer nicotine products in helping people switch away from smoking. Hosting world-leading experts, nicotine consumers and advocates, GFN addresses the scientific, regulatory and policy issues related to safer nicotine products and their crucial role in tobacco harm reduction,” they explained.
Discussing the launch of GFN•TV, Executive Producer Paddy Costall said it felt like the next logical step. “The audience for GFN has been growing year on year, as has the international interest in the issues around tobacco harm reduction,” he said. “When the pandemic struck, we took the conference online and reached thousands of viewers worldwide, many of whom had never been able to get to the event in person.”
