A kit that’s short on flavour

The Drag H80 S kit is attractively designed and we couldn’t find any manufacturing defects. It’s easy-to-use, and the box works with a 18650 battery. It can go up to 80W and features a proprietary connector. The clearomizer has a capacity of 4.5ml and uses PnP-type coils. This kit is perfect for anyone new to vaping but is sadly lacking in the way it delivers flavour.

A sleek, easy-to-use box

Slim and sleek, the box is made of metal and leather. It comes in six different colours. The clearomizer fits inside the top section. The connector is proprietary. Two spring mounted-pins carry the electric current.

The fire button is located on the front of the box. It makes a dull click, a sign of good quality.  The colour screen is a TFT. That makes it easy to read even in full sunlight. It displays all key information at a glance: battery level, vape mode, power level, coil value, tension delivered and even a puff counter. Underneath are the plus and minus buttons and a USB-C port for charging the battery.

To switch the box on, press the fire button five times. Pressing simultaneously on the fire button and the “+” button locks the device without switching it off completely.

Pressing the “+” and “-” buttons gives you access to the menus.

The mode option lets you choose between three different types of vaping.

Smart: the chipset automatically selects the best power level for the coil installed.

RBA: lets you choose the power level you want.

ECO: reduces screen brightness to save battery. When the battery charge drops below 40% the box automatically switches to ECO mode.

The PUFF RESET option resets the puff counter to zero.

The ABOUT DEVICE option displays information about the chipset version.

On the back, two magnets hold the leather covered battery door tightly to the body of the box. DRAG is embossed in the leather in large letters.

The battery compartment takes a 18650 battery. The positive and negative poles are clearly marked. The negative pole is spring-mounted. There are no degassing holes on the box.

The PnP POD II

The PnP POD II is the new clearomizer from Voopoo.  With a capacity of 4.5ml, it is made completely of plastic. Three magnets hold it onto the box. To fit the coil, just push it into its housing. It is perfectly tight – there were no leaks or seepage.

You fill the clearomizer from the top. Just remove the drip tip by turning it a quarter turn.  Once you’ve taken it off, you’ll see the two filling holes. Their small size means it’s impossible to use an e-liquid bottle with a wide tip.

By twisting the clearomizer inside the box you can adjust how much air reaches the coil. This adjustment gives you complete control to go from a very restrictive vape to a very airy one.

The kit comes with two coils. Use the PnP-TW 30 from 28 to 36W and the PnP-TW 15 from 55 to 70W.

Whichever coil you use, it delivers passable flavour when you vape. But the vapour is extremely thin. Flavours are bland and lack depth. Plus, when you use the PnP-TW 15 coils at more than 60W it drains the battery really fast. The Drag H80 S kit is well made but poor coil performance inside the pod tank let it down overall. What a shame.

Self-taught and curious by nature, I developed my journalistic skills in the field by joining the Vaping Post in 2017. As a former smoker who converted to vaping, I immediately felt the need to understand in detail all aspects of this smoking risk reduction method that has enabled me to successfully quit smoking where previous methods had failed.
review-drag-h80-s-voopooThe Drag H80S kit is disappointing in spite of its attractive build and menu design. It makes thin vapour. The flavours it delivers are bland and lack any depth at all. Plus, when you use the PnP-TW 15 coil the battery runs down in no time at all. What a shame, because this kit is enjoyable to use and is otherwise great quality.
