Review: Klypse Zip – Innokin

The Klypse Zip is the latest pod by Innokin. The original Klypse was a resounding success and its hygienic cap won a lot of vapers over. This pod is a different shape and size but has all the solid build quality of its predecessor.

Understated, stylish design

The design of the Klypse Zip is different. It’s wider and shorter, but still features the hygienic cap. There are no settings or buttons to worry about – you just inhale to vape. The pod uses a sealed cartridge with a 1.2 ohm coil and also works with coils from the original Klypse.

A brilliant tight vape

The Zip version of the Klypse is bigger but not as long as the original.

Innokin has maintained its commitment to the environment by using 100 % carboard packaging. That means less plastic, but also no cable -the Klypse Zip doesn’t come with one. This won’t be a problem for vapers who already have some kit, but it’s an important detail for beginners.

The Klypse Zip still features the hygienic cap on the top to protect the mouthpiece when it’s in your pocket or bag. It fits so tightly it feels almost impossible to get it off.

In our opinion, they should have used magnets like they did on the original Klypse, but at least it’s there and it does improve user comfort and hygiene.

The Klypse Zip has a built-in 650 mAh battery. This isn’t huge, but it’s powerful enough for the coils in the cartridges, which are pretty economical.

On the base of the pod there’s a small LED to show the battery level, and this lights up during charging. It recharges via a USB-C cable. You can also vape while it’s charging.

The Klypse Zip comes with a 2 ml cartridge which contains a sealed 1.2 ohm coil. It’s compatible with the 1.2 and 0.8 ohm tanks from the first Klypse pod.

Suffice to say that using indirect inhalation (mouth then lungs, like a tobacco cigarette) gives you a very tight draw. That makes it perfect for new vapers looking for the same sensation as smoking a tobacco cigarette.

The cartridge fits into the dedicated slot. The cartridge holds in place extremely well and we didn’t notice any sideways play at all when we vaped with it.

The coil produces vivid flavours, especially with fruity e-liquids.
The Klypse pod may have changed its shape but still delivers excellent flavours and remains very easy to use. There are no buttons or settings to worry about – just inhale and it makes vapour straight away. Simple and easy to use !

Self-taught and curious by nature, I developed my journalistic skills in the field by joining the Vaping Post in 2017. As a former smoker who converted to vaping, I immediately felt the need to understand in detail all aspects of this smoking risk reduction method that has enabled me to successfully quit smoking where previous methods had failed.
review-klypse-zip-innokinThe shape of the Klypse Zip may have changed, but it has retained the key features of the previous version as it’s compatible with the cartridges for the original Klypse. This pod delivers great flavours and you can use it right out of the box. We just wish they had used magnets to secure the cap and included a charging cable.
