Review: Gotek Pro – Aspire

Manufacturer Aspire is expanding its Gotek collection with its latest Pro version pod. Well-finished and with a generous e-liquid capacity, it is completely automatic. All you need to adjust is the air flow.

Great build quality

Aspire has given its Gotek Pro an ultra-premium finish. The metallic look inspires confidence, and the level of finish is exactly what you’d expect from the brand. Simple to use, we love the generous 4.5ml capacity for the built-in 1500 mAh battery.

The cartridge mouthpiece is on the top of the Gotek Pro. It’s slightly flattened, so feels comfortable to use. It’s designed to give a very tight draw. They’ve even included two holes on the corner so you can put it on a lanyard, but the pod doesn’t come with one.

A USB-C port on the bottom of the Gotek Pro allows fast charging of the built-in 1500 mAh battery. This size of battery is in keeping with the size of the pod and the fairly economical coil it uses.  Just next to that is the slider to adjust the airflow to the coil.

When it’s almost shut, you get a tight, MTL draw (into your mouth then into your lungs, like a tobacco cigarette). When it’s fully open, you get a responsive draw and you can use it to get a very tight, direct draw (directly into your lungs). It’s never going to make big clouds, but the Gotek Pro doesn’t claim to. It’s aimed at beginners and people looking for a discreet, tight vape.

Below the cartridge, on one edge, there’s an LED that shows the device is working. The colour changes depending on the remaining battery charge. This little light is discreet and neatly tucked away, but makes it easy to see how much battery you have left. The Gotek Pro is fully automatic, so there are no buttons for settings. You just fill the cartridge with e-liquid and inhale. That’s it!

The cartridge slots into the space designed for it. It’s protected by a transparent plastic cover that does two things. First, it holds the cartridge perfectly in place and protects it. Second, the fact that the plastic is transparent makes it easy to see how much e-liquid you have left. There’s no need to take out the cartridge to know when it’s time for a refill.

The cartridge in the Gotek Pro has a capacity of 4.5ml. This is pretty generous considering the size of the pod, and it means you won’t need to worry about refilling too often. Like most vapes, you lift the coloured tab and insert the tip of the e-liquid bottle. Narrow bottle tips make filling easier which means you’re less likely to have any spills.

Two magnets hold the cartridge in place. They are strong and do a great job. Unless you really throw the Gotek Pro around, there’s no way the cartridge will move by itself. The cartridge makes vapour with a 0.8 ohm coil. Aspire is very reliable when it comes to delivering true, good quality flavours. Flavours are clear and accurate.

The Gotek Pro is a good pod. From the moment you set eyes on it, it looks well-finished and we love the level of finish it boasts. The flavours are true.

The automatic draw is responsive when you use MTL. During our tests we noticed the electrics went on and off sometimes when we inhaled with the airflow slider completely open, but this didn’t stop us from being able to vape.

Self-taught and curious by nature, I developed my journalistic skills in the field by joining the Vaping Post in 2017. As a former smoker who converted to vaping, I immediately felt the need to understand in detail all aspects of this smoking risk reduction method that has enabled me to successfully quit smoking where previous methods had failed.
review-gotek-pro-aspireThe Gotek Pro is a good pod. It’s well-made and we really like the 4.5ml capacity. There’s nothing to adjust, and it’s easy - you don’t need any special skills to use it, whether you’re new to vaping or an old hand. It’s a product we really enjoyed using.
