Review: Filter Pro – X Bar

The manufacturer X-Bar made a name for itself through disposable cigarettes. For several months, the brand has been developing and now offers pods, among other things. The Filter Pro is a vaping system that comes with an additional battery for long vaping sessions.

A double-battery pod

The Filter Pro pod from X-Bar consists of a tubular pod and a battery in the form of a power bank. The pod has a 500 mAh battery weighing 29 g. However, with its additional power bank, battery life increases to 2100 mAh (500 + 1600).  The Filter Pro has no settings to adjust and is fully automatic, making it a good choice for someone getting started in vaping.

Pod with a long battery life

The power bank has a USB-C connection for quick charging of the built-in 1600 mAh battery and the pod. Therefore, you can choose to power your equipment either on the power bank or on the pod. This is a good point which means you don’t have both elements on you, depending on the situation. Three LEDs display the charge level on the additional battery. When the power bank is connected to the power supply, a small vibration can be felt.

Like the 1600 mAh power bank, the Filter Pro pod has three LEDs to show the level of charge. You can vape while the pod is on the power bank, which avoids running out of battery when it is low.

A little magnetic connector creates the electrical connection between the pod and its power bank. When the pod is placed on the power bank, a vibration confirms contact and the device starts to charge. The fit on the power bank does not pose any problems. Everything is held in place perfectly.

At the top of the pod, the cartridge contains a sealed 1 ohm coil. The Filter Pro is exclusively designed for indirect inhalation (into your mouth then into your lungs, like a tobacco cigarette). The drip tip is fairly long and held in place by a series of seals at the base. When the cartridge starts to show signs of deteriorating flavours, the whole thing needs to be changed.

The box also contains disposable filters with a hole in the middle. The user can therefore choose between a rigid plastic drip tip, as standard for an e-cigarette, or a feeling on the lips similar to a tobacco cigarette. This is a good option for a beginner who is vaping for the first time.

You fill the cartridge in the usual way. You just need to lift the silicone seal and insert the tip of the bottle to fill up the 2 ml available. Fine tips should be used preferably to avoid spillage. The capacity is consistent with the pod format.

The Filter Pro is simple but effective. With no settings button or fire button, it generates quality vapour for a tight draw. Flavours are well-rendered. The battery/power bank is effective and contributes to the overall look of the pod, offering a comfortable battery life so you don’t need to worry about charging.

The pod on its own is discreet and fits easily into your pocket. A nice product at a reasonable price. We just wish it didn’t use disposable cartridges.

Self-taught and curious by nature, I developed my journalistic skills in the field by joining the Vaping Post in 2017. As a former smoker who converted to vaping, I immediately felt the need to understand in detail all aspects of this smoking risk reduction method that has enabled me to successfully quit smoking where previous methods had failed.
review-filter-pro-x-barThe Filter Pro is easy to use. It doesn’t need any particular skill to for a beginner. With a tight draw, it delivers good quality flavours. The battery used as a power bank is a plus to charge your pod. The fact that the cartridges are disposable is a downside.
