The Trine is the latest pod from the manufacturer Innokin. It boasts a significant new feature with its removable battery. The Trine is easy to use and offers different draws for a discreet, good quality vape.

A more eco-friendly pod

Although there is no shortage of products in the pod world, there is no denying that innovations are rather rare. With the Trine, Innokin has opted for a pod with a removable battery without sacrificing any ease of use. Simple to use and delivering true flavours, the Trine is less polluting with its easy-to-remove battery system.

The pod with the removable battery

Underneath the Trine, the 1000 mAh battery is engraved with the name of the brand. A feature of this pod is that the battery is removable, something we will come back to. The battery life is consistent with the pod’s economical energy consumption with the 0.6- and 0.8-ohm coils that come in the box. The level of finish is very good. Nothing sticks out and there are no sharp edges. The body of the box is entirely metal and stands up well to the knocks of everyday life.

On one side of the Trine a slider lets you adjust the volume of air coming in to cool the coil in the cartridge. Depending on the chosen configuration and the value of the coil, you can get a draw ranging from very tight (indirect inhalation) to much more open (restricted direct inhalation). The Trine offers the possibility to experience a different type of vaping without changing your equipment.

On the opposite side is a USB-C connector for fast charging the device. You can vape while it’s charging. The battery capacity is 1000 mAh.

The name of the product is discreetly marked on the front of the Trine. There’s a fire button which is also used to adjust the settings, such as the power from 6 to 25 W. The black and white screen displays the selected power, the battery level in the form of a bar, the coil value, the number of puffs and the voltage. You vape either by pressing the fire button or by simply inhaling. We didn’t notice any lag between inhaling and it starting to produce vapour.

Apart from the standard functions of this type of device, the Trine revolutionises the world of pods with its removable battery.

The principle is appealing on several levels. From an ecological point of view, it’s simpler to remove the battery and put it in a dedicated bin rather than to throw away the whole pod. It means fewer operations to dismantle the device and therefore significantly less impact on the environment.

Innokin sells Trine batteries as an option. When travelling, where charging may be complicated, having a second battery is practical.

We can be pretty certain that the removable battery principle will spread to other devices and may become a standard at Innokin and lead to the appearance of a dedicated charging base.

The Trine comes with two cartridges. The coil inside is sealed. This is the only downside for us. We would have liked to see an interchangeable coil to match the removable battery and its ecological impact.

The 0.6 ohm VCAP cartridge is recommended for restricted direct inhalation from 20 to 22 W, whereas the 0.8 ohm VCAP cartridge is for a draw at 12 to 14 W. A 1.2 ohm cartridge is available as an option for indirect inhalation from 11 to 12 W.

The capacity is 2 ml. Filling with e-liquid is done by removing the mouthpiece. There is a hole to insert the tip of the bottle into the tank to fill it.

Whatever the value of the coil chosen, the flavours are top notch. It is precise and detailed with delivery of the hit is ideal. The Trine is a very good pod to get started in vaping or as a secondary device for more experienced users.

Self-taught and curious by nature, I developed my journalistic skills in the field by joining the Vaping Post in 2017. As a former smoker who converted to vaping, I immediately felt the need to understand in detail all aspects of this smoking risk reduction method that has enabled me to successfully quit smoking where previous methods had failed.
review-trine-innokinThe Trine is a very good pod. It’s easy to use with its automatic firing and offers the possibility of several power settings. The vapour produced is good quality. The removable battery is an advantage both for recycling and for use while out and about. We just wish they hadn’t used disposable cartridges.
