A good pod
The Argus G has a lot going for it. Small and packed with features, its electronics deliver a great vaping experience. The air flow is adjustable so it can make vapour that will appeal to a whole range of different users. But it’s missing something which tarnishes its overall brilliance – let’s find out what that is.

Almost perfect
The compact size of the Argus G and its excellent level of finish is sure to appeal to a lot of new vapers, and to more experienced vapers looking for an easy-to-use pod with lots of options. Although the Argus G is understated in its design, it also looks very modern. It has a metal case. The 1000 mAh battery suits the size.
There is a slider along one edge of the Argus G to adjust the airflow. Three small holes regulate the draw and the temperature of the vapour. Leaving the holes open gives a slightly airier vape than closing them slightly. During our tests, we liked this feature as it’s quite precise. It’s a great option that lets you mix things up and switch between different flavoured e-liquids.
There’s a USB-C connector on the side of the pod for charging the Argus G. The handling, design and many features of this vape have really won us over. But yet again, the manufacturer has failed to design it so that you can vape while it charges. That’s a shame. The Argus G works well and is packed with features, but this makes it much less useful.
The monochrome display on the Argus G is readable, despite its small size. The information displayed is comprehensive for an easy-to-use pod. You can change the power level by pressing the release button 3 times in a row. Once you’ve set the power level, you just have to wait a few seconds for the pod to register the setting.
During charging, an indicator shows the percentage battery charge and the time remaining until it’s fully charged.
You vape by pressing the fire button or, in automatic mode, by inhaling. We did not notice any obvious lag in this mode.
When you fit a cartridge, the Argus G automatically adjusts the power needed for the ohm value of the coil. This feature saves a lot of hassle and means new vapers don’t need any special skills.
The coil is housed in a cartridge seated on the top of the battery. It’s held in place by magnets that are strong enough to keep it in place under any circumstances.
It comes with two tanks. This is great for a pod that’s so affordable and offers such a wide range of different draws. The silicone cap is marked with the ohm value for the coil. You just lift the cap to access the filling hole.
Like most products of this type, the cartridge has a 2 ml capacity. It delivered strong, true flavours during our tests. It’s pretty accurate and quite finely-tuned. Adjusting the airflow really impacts how flavours are rendered, and you can get a very tight draw which feels very like smoking a tobacco cigarette.
The only downside in our view is that the cartridges are disposable. When the coil needs changing, you have to replace the whole cartridge.
