Minimalistic but it’s got it all

With a single button mounted on an LED, the Pado looks extremely basic. That said, it offers a number of functions that are really practical for everyday use. You can adjust the way it fires, the power level and airflow. It might be tiny but the Pado has a great ergonomic feel to it.

Discretion and efficiency

One side of the Pado features a slider to adjust the airflow. The further you open it, the more air gets in to cool the coil. The draw is very open. The 0.8 ohm coil gives you the option of vaping with very restricted direct inhalation. On the other hand, the more you close the slider, the less space there is and the tighter the draw becomes. This is even more noticeable with the 1.2 ohm coil, which feels very similar to smoking a tobacco cigarette. It takes a bit of effort to move the airflow slider but not enough to make it a problem.

Clicking the fire button in various ways also controls the settings. There’s a semi-circular LED just above the button. The LED has 3 sections that show the battery level (low, medium or high) and the power setting (low, medium or high). Pressing the button twice lets you choose between automatic or manual firing. You can also have both options on at the same time.

This button controls all of the settings, and the LED confirms your choices with little animations for each option. It’s pretty easy to use right out of the box. The light is very bright, even in strong sunlight.

A USB-C port on the side of the Pado allows fast charging of the built-in 1000 mAh battery. It doesn’t have the best battery life in its class, but this pod is tiny. That, plus the great energy-economy of the two cartridges at 0.8 and 1.2 ohm mean the Pado doesn’t need recharging very often. You can also vape while it’s charging.

The Pado pod comes with two cartridges. The cartridge is marked with the ohm value of the coil. One is 0.6 ohm and gives a very restricted direct vape, while the 1.2 ohm coil is intended to give a tight draw. The coils are sealed inside the cartridges, so you can’t replace them when you notice the flavour quality changing. You have to replace the whole cartridge.

A silicone tab seals the filling hole for the 3 ml tank. This pod delivers really delicious flavours. Vaptio has been making great coils for many years now, and the Pado pod is no exception. Flavour rendering is true and complex.

Self-taught and curious by nature, I developed my journalistic skills in the field by joining the Vaping Post in 2017. As a former smoker who converted to vaping, I immediately felt the need to understand in detail all aspects of this smoking risk reduction method that has enabled me to successfully quit smoking where previous methods had failed.
review-pado-vaptioThe Pado is a super little pod. Compact and easy to use, it offers a few different settings via the fire button. The two cartridges it comes with offer a wider vaping experience. The flavours are top quality, delicate and accurate. We just wish it didn’t use disposable cartridges.
